In 2009 Nathan Millward rode back from Australia on a postie bike, penning his adventures along the way. Here he describes his latest adventure: America, coast to coast on the same bike.

Last summer we received an email from writer Nathan Millward - he was about to embark on a romantic, epic and frankly insane journey back from Australia to the UK on a postal moped. For almost a year we have followed the highs and lows of his adventures around the globe.

Indonesians are murdering, militant country invaders with the blood of East Timor on their hands. Or at least that's the conclusion I'd come to after two weeks listening to locals tell their horrific stories from the 25 years of Indonesia occupancy.

What a month. I expected to be in and out of East Timor within a day. Fly in, pick up Dot Cotton and get the hell out of there before someone used a machete to open up my coconut. Except it didn't work like that.

Last time we caught up with our man Down Under he had a decision to make, he could either take a job and stay in Australia with the woman we've fondly come to know as the Wrecking Ball, or he could hop on his motorbike and start the long ride home. We didn't hear from him for a while, then out of the blue we received this..."I have some news which I thought I should share: Yesterday I left Sydney on a motorbike. My destination is England.

So there you go. Depending on what me and the Wrecking Ball decide to do, my tale will continue to be told from either a journalist's desk in Sydney, or from the driver's seat of Dorris, my trusty stead, as we trek through the arse-end of nowhere.

How quickly things change. Just last month the relationship with the Wrecking Ball was going swell, I was happy to be in Australia and marriage had been very seriously mentioned. And now, this month, I've been relegated to a youth hostel after being kicked out the house by that same lady.

We left Nathan Millward after a disastrous day of medical testing in Melbourne. It ended with a proposal from the girlfriend he calls - the Wrecking Ball.

We were bored of New Year. Same bar, same music, same people. We fancied a change and so thought about Europe, more specifically we thought about Amsterdam. But how do we organise that at such short notice?
