Emily Harris and her parents went on holiday to Antalya in Turkey earlier this month – and their trip was made truly unforgettable due to the actions that took place at customs.

Nine-year-old Emily took with her a passport she had received from the Bear Factory for her toy unicorn, Lilly.

But after passing through customs, Emily’s panicked mother Nicky found she had given the officials unicorn Lilly’s passport instead of her daughter’s.

Unbelievably, they had let Emily through.

The passport had an identification picture of purple, stuffed unicorn Lilly, and featured an outline of a bears head, faintly printed on each page.

From this you may think it would be clearly noticeable that the unicorn’s passport was different to the usual British passports.

However Turkish officials failed to see this and so they went along and stamped the passport, letting Emily into the country.

Only after Nicky was putting the passports away did she realise that she had given the wrong passport. Although terrified that they would be stopped, they found that the Turkish officials had stamped the unicorns passport, giving her legal rights to enter the country, rather humorous.

Nicky said: “We saw the funny side, but at the same time, it's a worry to any parent, how easy it would be to smuggle a child through customs and into another country."
