Cat 'arrested' for smuggling contrabands in Brazil
A cat has been 'arrested' for allegedly handling confiscated goods within the grounds of a Brazilian prison.
Prisoners had taped a mobile phone, drill bits and files onto the cat, which frequently went in and out of the prison as he pleased.
It was held in the grounds of the jail after being spotted trying to slip under the main gate.
Police have said the equipment could have been used as a way breaking out of the prison.
The prison in Arapiraca city, North East Brazil, has approximately 263 prisoners.
With only paw prints to guide the Police in their investigation, all of the inmates are on the list of fellow suspects.
A spokesperson from the jail told the local newspaper Estado de S. Paulo: "It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action as the cat doesn't speak."
The suspect cat was later released and moved to a local animal centre.
