Animal rights activists accuse Justin Bieber of sending pet hamster to its doom

Justin Bieber has been accused of animal cruelty by the Californian Hamster Association after giving away his pet hamster to a fan. After his recent performance at the Atlanta Jingle Ball, Justin Bieber handed a hamster cage containing his pet, PAC, over to one of his fans. He told the girl “You gotta take care of PAC” - which 18-year-old Tori assured him she would. Although Tori seems to have been delighted by her unexpected gift, the Californian Hamster Association (CHA) is not, and says that it constitutes animal cruelty. Hamsters are particularly susceptible to illness when subjected to a “sudden environmental change”, and CHA are concerned that the animal may die. “The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom,” the CHA spokesperson said in an interview with TMZ. There’s been no response to the accusations from Justin Bieber or his camp, but a TMZ interview with PAC’s new owner Tori has confirmed that the hamster is alive and well.
