Man demands to marry Paris Hilton in police stand-off

What would you demand if you were having a stand-off with police in a hotel? Money? A new car? A holiday? Apparently this wasn’t good enough for Oregon man Fredrick Denney.

The 61-year-old threatened to open fire on police unless two demands were met; his first was reasonably sensible (well... considering) - a tasty pizza. His second was more bizarre – socialite Paris Hilton’s hand in marriage. What?

Officers were called to the address on Cecelia Alexander Drive, Belmont, at the weekend, after reports Denney had caused a disturbance. They cordoned off the second floor and attempted to reason with Denney during an anxious stand-off.

Negotiations lasted several hours, during which he refused traditional bargaining tools such as a getaway car and a bag of cash, instead insisting he wanted his happily ever after with Miss Hilton.

Shockingly, his request was denied.

He now faces charges of being intoxicated and disorderly.
