An anonymous Austrian politician who was caught having sex on camera in Austria's Carinthian Forest may be compensated if courts rule that his privacy was violated.
Hidden cameras were planted in the forests by conservationists in order to observe wildlife’s natural habitat.
According to The Telegraph, the Carinthian Hunting Society got way more than what they bargained for when they reviewed the recorded footage and got an eyeful of the politician getting wild in the wild.
The Carinthian Hunting Society have promised to keep the identity of the politician a secret but they do not feel that the cameras are an invasion of privacy, and defended their use of them.
Freydis Burgstaller-Gredenegger, the society's manager, said: "I cannot say for sure how many cameras are in operation in forests in Carinthia as they do not have to be registered to us; we have never had any problems with the cameras up until now."
She added that the cameras were placed to spot animals and their feeding patterns but legal experts for the politician are arguing that the cameras should be marked with signs. Lawyers for the Hunting Society say that the surveillance area is marked with signs saying that entering it is trespassing.
With Austrian laws restricting the use of surveillance cameras, now the incident has sparked another national debate about data protection, a sensitive issue in Austria and Germany, reports Deutsche Spiegel.
So what do you think -should this politician really not only get away with breaking the law, but also get compensated for it?
