In celebration of the newly released Man on the Moon, we decided to round up all the John Lewis Christmas adverts from the past five years.

Yes, it’s that time again. It might only be the 6th of November – but it’s officially Christmas. And the feels provided by everyone’s favourite high street department store/creator of visually perfect festive film footage this year are as strong as ever.

So, here we go. Prepare to flex your emotions – and then maybe give your granddad a call...


John Lewis Christmas Advert 2010

Before the John Lewis advert became a fully fledged yuletide tradition, 2010 offered us this sweet look at sneaky Christmas preparations in various family homes – which largely appeared to consist of sneaking giant toy horses upstairs and making sure the dog wasn’t neglected during present opening. Cute – but not quite an institution yet...

Commonly remembered as the one with the twist at the end, John Lewis’s Christmas offering four years ago followed an extremely impatient little boy in the run up to the big day – and reminded us that the present giving part of the festive season isn’t just about the gifts that we get ourselves. Beautiful.

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2014: Monty the Penguin

Sticking with the cute animal theme and again utilising twitter, November 2014 saw Monty become the world’s most talked about penguin and acquire a life partner (Mabel) in the process. Great month for penguins all round. Nostalgia sufficiently ramped up. Good work all.
