“Our generation will never be new again... our youth has been stolen from us.”
A second trailer for Testament of Youth has been released, and it shows the seemingly idyllic life of a young student Vera in the months leading up to the outbreak of the Great War – and how her privileged existence suddenly finds itself shattered.
The true story, adapted from the memoirs of Vera Brittain, follows the young Oxford hopeful turned volunteer nurse as the Great War descends, taking both her brother and her fiancé away to fight for their country.
In light of Remembrance Sunday and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of a war that would change the world, the release of the trailer today is fairly poignant. Watch it below:
Testament of Youth is released in UK cinemas on 16th January 2015.
