Stargazing pods have been installed at Alton Towers Resort

To many, the Alton Towers Resort theme park is synonymous with speed, chaos and adrenaline-fuelled excitement.

The numerous rollercoasters scattered throughout the park have attained legendary status among rollercoaster enthusiasts and thrillseekers, who appreciate Oblivion’s famous vertical drop and Rita’s acceleration from zero to 62mph in 2.5 seconds. However, as thrilling as Alton Towers can be, a whole day of riding rollercoasters can be mentally and physically exhausting. Each adventure brings continuous waves of fear and excitement, making our hearts echo the loop-the-loops that make Alton Towers' coasters so famous.

The epic theme park’s new accommodation provides the perfect paradox. After a day of screaming at the top of their lungs, visitors can now choose to relax in the quiet tranquillity of Alton Towers' brand new stargazing pods, which are on sale for 2019.

Decorated minimally, the pod village prioritises time spent outdoors. Maintaining the comfort necessary for a post-rollercoaster recovery, the adorable little homes will meet your every need and keep you only seconds away from the green countryside. Perch on your terrace and watch over "the green", a grassy region for children (and adults) to play, and peppered with telescopes for your convenience to examine the sparkling sky above.

If this sounds like a step too far, visitors who crave a modern, urban lifestyle, can be reassured that every pod is equipped with heating, charging points, and WiFi. There is also a communal block containing toilets, accessible showers, and baby-changing facilities.

A night in the stargazing pods is the cheapest accommodation available at Alton Towers, costing only £88 per night in off-peak season and £123 per night in peak season. The price includes early entry to the theme park each day, as well as a takeaway breakfast to kick off the morning.

Away from the commotion of the park, the pods provide an ideal summer getaway for families and groups of friends who wish to explore all the park has to offer with the knowledge that they are only walking distance from their pod.
