Visit the 10 most breathtaking buildings in Europe

Europe is home to some of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the world. Some may not be instantly thought of, whilst others are much more obvious attractions.
Also included is when the best time might be to check out these buildings, for an even more breathtaking view.
1. Hungarian parliament - Budapest, Hungary: During the day the Hungarian Parliament is easily recognised as a beautiful piece of gothic architecture. However, this building becomes even more breathtaking when it is lit up at night. The scale and brightness of the building in person at night easily makes this my favourite European building..jpg)
2. Brandenburg Gate - Berlin, Germany:
A popular association of Berlin is the Brandenburg gate, a central point of the city and close to some of Berlin's other tourist attractions. Like other popular European buildings the Brandenburg gate lights up brightly at night. My piece of advice to you is this: if you look up at the gate towards the horse and chariot on the very top at night the brightness and detail will easily take you breath away.
3. Brussels Town Hall - Brussels, Belgium:
Located in the Grand Place in Brussels, this building is yet another piece of gothic architecture from the middle ages. The best time to visit is at sunset, when you will see the Town Hall and the rest of the Grand Place buildings turn a rich golden colour as the sun shines on them.
4. Hallgrímskirkja Church - Reykjavík, Iceland:
This building is like nothing that I have ever seen before, especially for a church. In fact, I actually had to search what the building was for when I first saw it. The building gives off and eerie feel from the outside. However, once you are inside it feels much more like a normal church. You can visit inside and even right to the top of the tower for an amazing birds-eye-view of Reykjavík.
5. Sistine Chapel & St Peters Basilica - Vatican City, Rome, Italy:
The Vatican City and its buildings are another set of breathtakingly beautiful buildings. The Sistine Chapel is famously known for its decorative art. Famously, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was worked on by Michelangelo.
6. Széchenyi Thermal Baths - Budapest, Hungary:
Again this building is unlike anything that I had ever seen before. You do not expect thermal baths to be in such a place. The contrast of the rich yellow walls and the bright blue water creates an old-fashioned feel. And at night, when the Széchenyi Thermal Baths are turned into a party, the building is light up on the inside in pinks and purples and create a clubbing atmosphere.

7. The Colosseum - Rome, Italy:
When I first began to travel this was the first historic building that I ever visited and it's definitely made a lasting impression. Holding so much history and character, the Colosseum is the very heart of Rome. Tickets for tour are cheap and can be bought on the day. If you think that the inside is impressive then you should definitely check out the inside.
8. Neuschwanstein Castle - Schwangau, Germany:
This castle is situated in the Bavarian region of Germany and is popularly recognised at Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. The castle and its surrounding grounds are a must visit at any point during the year, whether it be snowing or beautiful sunshine. The neighbouring bridge is the best way to get a picture of the castle, however, there is often restoration works being carried out on the bridge so it is worth checking this before visiting. The guided tour takes you through the castle and its history and is definitely worth doing.
9. Church of Our Lady before Týn - Prague, Czech Republic:
A unique piece of architecture, The Church of Our Lady before Týn stands in Prague Old Town Square. The building's architecture incorporates different designs styles. From the castle-like spire that might be found on a German Castle, to the curving details at the front that remind me a bit of Russian architecture design. Again the best time to see this church is at sunset when the sun reflects a golden shine across Church of Our Lady before Týn and the rest of Prague Old Town square.
10. Lincoln Cathedral - Lincoln, England:
This may be a biased choice, but Lincoln Cathedral is absolutely stunning as it sits proudly at the top of Steep Hill overlooking the city bellow. And when night falls the cathedral becomes even more breathtaking as it lights up, and can be see throughout the city. Pictures are nothing in compassion to the real thing.
