Ever fancied road-tripping the continental US, On the Road style? The trip might be a dream come true, but the organisation sounds like a nightmare, right?
An epic journey needs some epic transport and those choosing to take the trip will travel in style in a wifi enabled vehicle, so all systems are go for some Instagram bragging.
Now the North American specialists, TrekAmerica, are launching a new itinerary to make the whole thing a doddle.
“The Great 48” is a whistlestop tour of each and every state on the US mainland. Over 80 days, this 'mother of all road trips' will visit all the big bucket-list destinations and more besides.
Starting in Miami in May 2014, the trip will take in LA, New York, Chicago and San Francisco as well as the Appalachian mountains. Stopping off to spot sea-lions off the California coast and swim in the Homestead crater (made famous in 127 hours), the route finally winds up in Seattle. An experienced tour guide will be on hand to share expert knowledge on the day's destinations and accommodation is provided in anything from hostels to cabins.
