Head to Bazaar for some excellent urban music and the chance to spot any celebrities visiting the island in their favourite hang-out, before eating some of the island’s best seafood in The Ocean Basket on the seafront the next day.
One of the hottest places in Greece, Crete is also one of the most popular. Despite its reputation as an excellent tourist destination, the towns and villages of Crete manage to retain a lot of their local, old-world charm. Travelling to the Minoan palace on the outskirts of Malia is a one-of-a-kindexperience, the closest you’ll ever come to taking a step back in time. The beaches are some of the safest and cleanest in Europe, with Elli beach being a particular stand out as somewhere beautiful, chilled out and with all the necessities close at hand. Faliraki is the place for anyone at all to try their hand at water sports, and the west of the island has some of the best wind-surfing conditions in the world.
