Meet the most secure smartphone ever

Share This Article:

Smartphones are becoming harder and harder to differentiate these days, with manufacturers trying to get you to buy their devices over the others.

Samsung is set to release a foldable phone and tablet very soon. HTC has just announced the Exodus 1 which is a smartphone powered by Blockchain technology. What is so special about Blockchain technology and why would you want it in your phone though?

First of all, Blockchain is the technology behind the cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Blockchain is a huge network of computers that are connected together all around the world, each computer is called a node. Whenever a transaction is made on the Blockchain, it will be verified and then added to a huge list or database. This list is then updated across the network, making it virtually impossible to commit fraud or counterfeit transactions using as every node simultaneously has a copy of all the transactions.

What's so special about the Exodus 1 is that it contains a separate secure area on the phone’s storage away from the main Android operating system. This added security means that it is much safer to use this phone over others to include sensitive information like the keys to your cryptocurrency.

Another unique feature of the Exodus 1 is its 'Social Key Recovery' mechanism. If you lose your phone or forget any of your information, then you can retrieve them from a few people that you trust.

HTC is allowing third parties to make their own wallets which can take advantage of the phones extra security.

The Exodus 1 is not just about the security - it is also a fully-fledged high-end smartphone as well. It features a 6-inch HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio screen. Inside, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. As well as a 3,500mAh battery and is IP68 dust and water resistant. It features a dual 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel dual selfie camera.

For the time being, the only way of buying the Exodus 1 is using the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin or Ethereum. It will cost 0.30 Bitcoin or 4.78 Ethereum. At the time of writing 0.30 Bitcoin equates to 1,494.51.

However, as the value of the cryptocurrencies fluctuates often, then it may go for cheaper.
