With flat screens getting smaller and smaller, sound quality is gradually getting worse. The slick and affordable Maxell Soundbar Digital TV Speaker might provide a solution, however. We tested one out...

‘Speakers you won’t notice, delivering sound you won’t believe’ is the slogan attached to the marketing of the Maxell MXSB 252 Soundbar Digital TV Speaker. This might sound a bit over the top, but it genuinely it was not an exaggeration!

I had never watched the film with which I tested the Soundbar before, but I feel sure however good it was originally, it was infinitely better with the help of this speaker. The quality and depth to the sound was fantastic, especially when the action sequences were in full flow.

Watching the music channels proved to also be an enhanced experience. I didn’t have chance to test its gaming capabilities but I would imagine it would have a similarly strong effect.

The Soundbar fits neatly underneath your TV and is suitable for televisions up to 50Kg. Setting it up is very simple because all you have to do is stick four soft rubber cushions on top of the sound bar before placing your TV on top and connecting all the cables.

In addition the vast range of connections, allowing devices including iPods to also be plugged in, make this a better alternative to potentially cheaper options on the market. In short, the Soundbar is definitely well worth the £129.99 asking price - I am even considering purchasing one myself.

The Maxell MXSB-252 Soundbar Digital TV Speaker is available from at £129.99 SRP including VAT, and includes a 2 year warranty.
