The BBC have today announced that Inside No. 9 will be returning for a special 'live' episode this Halloween. The acclaimed anthology series, created by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, is well known for its creative ingenuity - often toying with narrative convention and classic horror/comedy tropes. With this special edition, set to be broadcast completely live to the nation in October, it looks as though Shearsmith and Pemberton are stretching their imaginations even further. Although plot details and extended castings have yet to be announced, the BBC have promised that Shearsmith and Pemberton will appear in "a twisted tale which will aim to surprise, delight, unnerve and amuse in equal measure." As with regular episodes of the anthology series, the live special is expected to run for thirty minutes. The newly announced special isn't the only 'live' event that Shearsmith and Pemberton will be contending with later this year either, as the pair are due to commence The League of Gentlemen's nationwide tour alongside Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson in August. In addition to the special, the series was renewed for a fifth series earlier this year, following its increasingly successful four-year run. Series five is expected to arrive on our screens next year, "with each episode bringing an original story, a raft of new characters and surprising twists in the most unexpected of places." Inside No. 9 will return to BBC Two for a live Halloween special on 31st October 2018.
