Hodor is back from the dead... to promote KFC?!

KFC has exploited one of last year’s most upsetting TV deaths for their latest advert.

With the new series of Game of Thrones fast approaching, the chain has featured actor Kristian Nairn as the show’s loveable giant Hodor in their latest campaign.

Fans of the show will remember that Hodor was sadly killed off whilst protecting Bran and Meera from White Walkers by ‘holding the door’. Sob.

In the ad, promoting KFC’s new Ricebox, Nairn is not playing Hodor, but in fact a KFC employee inundated with orders for chicken with fries, repeating the phrase over and over to evoke his character’s famous death scene. (Too soon, too soon.)

However, he has an epiphany over a “chicken and rice” order, rather than his name, thus promoting the new menu item.

The new series of Game of Thrones is set to air from 17th July in the UK on Sky Atlantic. It has recently been revealed that many of the episodes in its eighth and final season will be feature-length, despite only having six in the pipeline.
