It seems that Sense8 fans have finally gotten their message across to the big Netflix bosses.
Announced via a letter posted on the Sense8 social media accounts, the show is set to air a 2-hour special finale in order to tie up its loose ends and give fans some closure.
Lana Wachowski stated that the "passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the fist of Sun to fight for this show" was ultimately the "love [that] has brought Sense8 back to life".
The show was cancelled at the beginning of June after Netflix claimed they couldn't justify the $9m an episode budget for the show's viewing figures, which sent Sense8 fans into a furore.
Wachowski explained how she "fell into a fairly serious depression" upon finding out the news of the show's cancellation, which fell right at the beginning of Pride month, something at the core of the show and its fanbase.
It was also met with frustration due to the cliffhanger ending involving Wolfgang. Even Wachowski herself ended her letter with: "Now let's find out what happens to Wolfgang".
Netflix expressed a similar sentiment in their Facebook statement regarding the special: "We decided to give Sense8 fans the ending they totally deserve."
The 2-hour special is set to appear on Netflix sometime this year.
