Fans of Gilmore Girls, the wait is very nearly over. Your favourite series will be back on Netflix this month for a revival eighth season, consisting of four 90-minute episodes.

If you've been waiting anxiously to revisit Stars Hollow for the past nine years and simply can't wait for more news about the upcoming series then look no further. Here's everything you need to know about A Year In The Life.

When will it air?

Netflix have confirmed that the new series, entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, is scheduled to air on 25th November at 12.01am PT - so that's 7.01am for us in the UK. All four episodes are named after seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn (or fall, if you're American) and Winter.

Who's returning?

Pretty much everyone! Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are back to play leading mother and daughter stars, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Kelly Bishop returns as the hot grandmother, Emily. Keiko Agenda, Rory's BFF Lane Kim will also be returning to our screens alongside Lorelai's squeeze Luke Danes.

But, the best news of all after months of speculation is that star of The Heat and Ghostbusters, Melissa McCathy has confirmed she will also be back to play Lorelai's best bud Sookie.

We will also be welcoming back Yanic Truesdale as receptionist Michel Gerard, Sean Gunn as Kirk Gleason the local idiot, Liza Weil as Paris Geller and David Sutcliffe as Rory's Dad, Christopher Hayden.

How is Edward Herrmann's death going to be dealt with?

One of the many highlights of Gilmore Girls was Herrmann's portrayal of family patriarch, Richard Gilmore. Following his death in 2014, the creators thankfully haven't put anyone else in his place to pick up the role but it has been suggested that they will be paying tribute to him throughout these new stories.

Will there be any new characters?

The show's newest addition is Mae Whitman, but it is yet to be confirmed what role she will be playing in the new series. Other new recruits include actors from Sherman-Palladio's other show, Bunheads. Bailey De Young and Sutton Foster will appear in the episodes.

Alex Kingston, Lisa Marie and Sofia Oliva Jellen have also been confirmed to be a part of the show and Dan Bucatinsky from Scandal is rumoured to play magazine editor Jim.

Who's writing and directing?

Husband and Wife duo Daniel and Sherman Palladio both left the show after season six, following disagreements about terms of a new contract with the show's original network, The CW. Season seven was directed and written by various different people including Jamie Babbit, Jackson Douglas and David S. Rosenthal. However, for this new series Sherman and Daniel Palladio have returned!

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will launch on Netflix on 25th November.
