If you can’t get enough of the Kardashians, well, we’ve got some potentially exciting news for you.
Courtesy of US TV giants NBCUniversal, a new streaming service is launching today – and it’s 100% dedicated to reality TV.
Yes, really. All the world’s guilty pleasure/pure binge-friendly TV - including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Made in Chelsea, The Real Housewives, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Don’t Tell the Bride and The Millionaire Matchmaker - can now be found in one handy little place.
hayu describes itself as a “next generation all-reality subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service”, and it’s main draw is that it allows the structured-reality-obsessed to watch its 3,000+ hours of reality TV on the same day as the US – a whole week before it usually hits UK TV screens.
Similar to Netflix, the service works on subscription. It costs £3.99 per month, and there’s no contract.
hayu is also fully integrated with social media, so those with the inclination won’t even have to open a separate app in order to silently stalk Kendall Jenner’s twitter feed.
Whether reality TV makes your brain hurt or whether you’re a closet fan (or indeed, a very vocal one – there’s no shame here) you’ve got to admit: it makes a whole lot of sense.
The launch took place last Wednesday at Soho House in Central London, and was presented by Laura Whitmore – with special guests Lucy Watson (of Made in Chelsea fame) and former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.
