Switched on
Football on ESPN – ESPN’s coverage is putting much of our established sports shows to shame. With its abundance of ladies, flashy technology and pitch side analysis at half time, ESPN has brought its American Superbowl style over the pond. A point that is only emphasised by the recent Gray/Keys-Gate on Sky, ESPN shows off a woman’s asset to the most – her brains! The presentation is slick, HD and commentary good. It’s all good.
Blue Blood, Sky Atlantic – The only show Sky Atlantic hasn’t been publicising to a ridiculous amount, this slick US precinct drama is one for those who love Law and Order, mixed with a bit of dry American humour. The show is dark at points, but it is riveting stuff.
Switched off
Celebrity Juice, ITV2 – The edgy and risque comedian Keith Lemon has become a bit of marmite character in recent weeks, with the show getting mixed reviews. Whilst Holly Willoughbooby and the ever-cool Fearne Cotton carry the show through week after week, patience is waning when it comes to the grotesque gurning of Avid Merrion/Keith Lemon/Soon-to-be-has-been chap.
Masterchef, BBC – What have they done to this show? First few series were riveting, all about the cookery and one of those organic-feeling shows. We now have more dramatic soundtracks than a Bourne Identity film and the show is becoming more about the hosts than the Jonathon Ross show. REMEMBER: Organic is ALWAYS best!
