BBC Three's Frankenstein's Wedding... Live In Leeds is a bold re-imagining of Mary Shelley's 1818 gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein. Set in the haunting surroundings of Kirkstall Abbey, this unique live music drama event brings a one-of-a-kind spectacular to the city of Leeds on Saturday 19th March 2011.

FrankentsteinElizabeth Lavenza (played by Lacey Turner), unlike her passive counterpart from the 1818 original, is smart, strong and knows what she wants – an equal partnership with the man she loves. Simple – right?

Trouble is Victor has become increasingly obsessed with his work, spending hours toiling away in his lab. They've been together for ages but she can't help but question if she really knows this manic and sleep-deprived man.

He has always been passionate about his work, it's one of the reasons she fell in love with him, but this is different. She is almost certain he is hiding something.

But now is not the time for doubts – with an invite list of thousands and an ambitious wedding planner flapping around, Elizabeth has got to grit her teeth and get on with it. She'd be happy with a reception in the upstairs of a pub but the Frankensteins don't do things by halves!

Despite her reticence, she knows how important this day is. After the murder of Victor's younger brother William, the family desperately need something good to celebrate. She just wishes she could feel as excited about it as everyone else.

What attracted you to Frankenstein's Wedding…Live in Leeds and specifically the role of Elizabeth?

"I was attracted to Frankenstein's Wedding... Live In Leeds because it seemed such an exciting project, not only the story but also the whole concept of it being set in a derelict Abbey and being live! It's something so different and unusual. Elizabeth is a great character to play – she has a great story and is such a powerful woman, but is always won over by Victor because of her love for him. I'm very excited to be a part of this project."

You are also starring in BBC Three's Being Human – how different are the two projects?

"The two projects are so different. Being Human is a great drama which looks into the world of vampires, ghosts and werewolves but also the lives of real people. It has a fantastic cast and Lia was really fun to play – she is a cheeky but intelligent young girl who is looking for revenge!

"On the other hand, Frankenstein is a story that has been told so many times in so many different ways, it's nice to be able to tell it again in our own way."

Lacey Turner is best known for her role as Stacey Slater in BBC One's EastEnders, for which she has won a multitude of awards, including the Best Serial Performance award at this year's National TV Awards. She is also starring in the current series of BBC Three's Being Human.
