Libby’s friends had helped her into a taxi and she travelled home alone, however, it’s believed she didn’t go into the property. When her friends returned they discovered Libby was not home and subsequently reported her missing to the police.
This evening, Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley revealed Libby’s body had been found, saying:
“A post-mortem examination commenced this afternoon and is continuing to be carried out this evening.
“However formal identification has now taken place and we can confirm the body recovered is that of missing woman Libby Squire.
“Libby’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.”
An extensive police search into Libby’s disappearance has been ongoing since she was first reported missing. On 7 February officers arrested a man in connection with her disappearance.
Detective Supt Smalley has this evening also commented on the man arrested, saying:
“One man was arrested in February in connection to Libby’s disappearance and remains under investigation.
“We will provide updates as and when we can as to the progress of the investigation, which has been continuous since Libby’s disappearance and remains ongoing.
“Our priority is to support Libby’s family and give them the answers they desperately need.”
