Good vibrations: Ann Summers reveals which uni students are spending the most

Oxford and Cambridge are used to topping the league tables and yet again they didn't disappoint when figures for this recent league table were revealed.
It turns out students at Oxford University are top of their class - and also the kinkiest - when it comes to their total spending on sex toys, bondage and lingerie, having spent more at Ann Summers than any other university in 2017. In total, Oxford students made a huge spending of £11,266 on orgasm inducing delights with Cambridge students coming in a close second, spending an impressive £9,410 - it’s enough to make you blush. Leeds University claimed third place, with a spending of £8,633 and Manchester University came fourth place with a total spend of £8,549 in 2017.

An Ann Summers Sexpert told us: “We’re pleased that our sex toys are helping students to work hard and play harder. "It’s interesting that spending is highest at the top universities, but we’ve found that it’s not just students’ attitudes to sex toys that are changing. All over the UK people are becoming much more relaxed and empowered in their sexuality.” Ranking lower down the table for their spending habits are the students at Oxford Brookes University, placing 16th with a spending of £5,424, significantly less than Oxford University. The bottom two places go to Surrey University and Hertfordshire University where students spent a measley £4,830 and £4,791 respectively.
The Top 20 Biggest Spenders:
Ann Summers also analysed browsing sessions, looking at which universities' students browse most often and at what times. After a hard day at the library it seems minds wander, as students across the country are mostly indulging their fantasies at night, with browsing and buying peaking between 9 to 11pm.
Interestingly, the company found that while students at Manchester University were 18th in terms of visits to their site - 3,218 hits in 2017 - they were the 4th highest spenders, indicating that they know exactly what they’re looking for when they’re shopping for toys.
The best selling product at five of the top ten universities for spending was revealed as the Rose Gold Pebble Vibrator, a luxe palm sized product with three speeds and three stimulating pulse patterns to intensify pleasure. . However, students at Kent University were shown to prefer something a little different, with the majority buying the Lipstick Shaped Bullet Vibrator, a hot pink pulsator that is so popular it's currently out of stock. It's been speculated by some researchers that having a high IQ is correlated to having a higher sex drive and if these figures are anything to go by then they may just be onto something.
