A covert camera and microphone have been found in the women's toilets at LJMU's Avril Roberts Library. An unnamed Irish student at Liverpool John Moores University has uncovered a hidden camera and microphone that had been duct-taped behind the sanitary bin of one of the cubicles. The devices were found in the second floor toilets. Upon making the discovery she displayed her outrage on social media, claiming to be 'sickened' by what she had found. The post read "I am absolutely sickened posting this, but everyone needs to know and be aware this s*** is going on". The student also tweeted that other girls had mentioned seeing duct tape but didn't act on it, but curiosity got the better of her, leading to the detection of the camera and microphone. A fellow female LJMU student has also spoken on the matter, revealing she feels 'violated' by the horrible situation. Merseyside Police are reportedly taking the matter very seriously. A spokesman released the following statement:"Merseyside Police can confirm that at 4:50pm on Tuesday 27th June, we received a report from security staff at Liverpool John Moores University that a covert camera had been found in the ladies' toilets in the Avril Roberts library on Titherbarn Street". An LJMU spokesperson has said that the camera was removed and immediately reported to security.
