It sounds too good to be true – but it’s actually legit.
Students in Leeds could find themselves paying £1 per month in rent next year, thanks to a new competition.
Starting in December Parklane Properties – which might be a familiar name to renters in the city – is kicking off a competition that will run for 12 months and see students get their rent bill slashed by huge proportions.
One tenant will rewarded with £1 rent in December, followed by one in January and one in February.
New students who sign up between now and 29th February (2016 is a leap year, guys) will be in with a chance of winning an entire year’s accommodation for just £12.
Yes, £12. That’s a whole £540 saving, based on average Leeds city rents of £552 per year.
Think of what you could do with that. It’s basically a pretty good holiday, or probably about 36 relatively budget nights out.
Students who are already tenants of Parklane Properties don’t need to do anything to be in with a chance of winning £1 rent in December, January and February. New tenants should just make sure they sign up with the company before the February closing date to be in the running.
Parklane Properties is one of the city’s biggest accommodation providers, housing more than 1,500 students in 2014.
Managing Director Naveen Ahmed says: “The cost of living has been a hot topic in the news this month and we hope our ‘live for £1 a month’ initiative will lend a helping hand to some of our loyal tenants, as well as one lucky Leeds student that takes out a tenancy with us over the next few months.”
Sounds good to us.
