ID is the most important thing to remember when packing for freshers’ week, according to a survey of current university students.
Making sure you can get served during those all-important first days at uni is more important than practical concerns such as kitchen utensils, bedding – or even your smartphone.
The survey of 800 students was carried out by Unii.com ahead of freshers’ weeks beginning across the country this year.
Last year, smartphones were the number one item that freshers’ said they’d keep with them during the week. The new survey, though, saw 15% of students claiming their phone as their most important item – compared to 28% who chose their ID.
Despite missing out on a boozy night clearly being the top concern, students still realise work (or maybe social media...) is the priority - laptops pipped other crucial items to the post, with over a third choosing their computer over bedding, kitchen utensils and a new wardrobe.
Freshers are also more than happy to leave home comforts behind, with slippers and a car being named as the least important items to take to university.
Also deemed as important were binoculars (we can’t think why...?), condoms and food that has been pinched from your parents’ kitchen cupboards.
More mundane essential items included a door stop, a stapler and coat hangers.
