Free cocktails might sound too good to be true – and in lots of cases, you’d be forgiven for immediately expecting there to be a catch.

Sometimes, though, there is such thing as a free (liquid) lunch.

Launched in April, the new Drinki app lets users pick up cocktails completely for free – instead of paying, users can just check in on Facebook and show it to the bartender in return for their free Cosmopolitan/Martini/White Russian.

When you open the app, it will handily point out the nearest bars that are signed up to give out free cocktails. You’ve even got a map to help you on your way.

The app, which currently has 20 London bars signed up, is free to download from the App Store and Google Play and lets you pick up your free cocktails between midday and midnight, every day of the week.

Bars signed up include underground gin emporium 214 Bermondsey, just east of London Bridge, to the bigger and more central Zebrano in Soho.

One issue we would point out is that the app is marketed as “women only” – as evidenced by the screen, which reads “Excuse me bartender! This lady would like a Drinki.”

We think this is a bit harsh – what about our male friends who just can’t get enough of their Appletinis? They deserve some free cocktail love too!

Drinki has only been launched in London so far, but we think it could catch on pretty quickly elsewhere. Because honestly, who doesn’t love a free Bellini? Plus, we think you’ll probably be checking in wherever you are anyway...
