#YESPimpMySummerBall takes over twitter

Teeside students this afternoon have managed to get #YesPimpMySummerBallTeeside trending nationwide in an attempt to win £50,000 to go towards their Final Fling – the summer ball that will top off their university year in style on 30th May.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The hashtag has been trending since mid-afternoon, as part of a Club MTV and Lucozade competition that is offering students the chance to “win a pimped summer ball for your uni.”

The competition is asking students to tweet ‘#YESPimpMySummerBall’, followed by the name of their university.

Teeside’s viral campaign includes a video, uploaded to YouTube by Alan Davis:

But, despite the fact that they seem to be winning in the trending stakes, Teeside aren’t actually winning the competition – in fact at the time of writing they’re in fourth place with just over 80,000 tweets, behind the universities of Bournemouth (420,401), Kent (360,648) and Reading (139,638).

So, who will win? At the moment, it looks like it could be anyone’s game...
