At Motors.co.uk, they believe in rewarding the good deeds that are all around us, but so often go unnoticed in day to day life. That is why they set up their ongoing mission to find the people who deserve special recognition. Most recently, they launched a campaign to find the UK’s Most Deserving Student.

The award for Most Deserving Student was all about finding someone who showed real dedication to making improvements to their local community, or to the lives of family members or friends, whilst also working tirelessly to attain new qualifications at university or college.

To recognise this incredible achievement, and to offer additional support to help them reach their ambitions, they reward the winner with a car.

The judging panel read through hours of touching nominations to select this year’s five finalists, all of whom demonstrated the qualities and attributes they were looking for in a Most Deserving Student. The five finalists were:

Sophie Hannah Davis - Nottingham Trent University

Cassie Galpin - Westminster University

Julia Hebb - Salford University

Charlotte Moore - Swansea University

Vicky White - Birmingham City University

All the finalists showed genuine dedication and determination to achieve their qualifications whilst selflessly giving their time and skills to help improve the lives of friends, family and neighbours. However, there was one nomination that stood out as being particularly special, and Julia Hebb of Salford University was crowned as this year’s winner of the Motors Most Deserving Student award.

Julia is studying to become an Adult Nurse, and her best friend, Gillian Turner, nominated her for the Most Deserving Student award. Writing about Julia’s achievements, Gillian put:

“Tyler, Julia’s youngest has fought hard against prejudice as he has Autism and Asperger’s syndrome. Julia devised a technique to help Tyler to learn to speak, which is now a recognised method used by speech therapists.

“At the age of 34 Julia decided to improve her own education, and returned to college to get her GCSEs and later to do an access to nursing course. Her strength, compassion and desire to help everyone around her is inspiring.”

Julia was thrilled to win the award and the car from Motors.co.uk in recognition of her outstanding achievements: “I felt very overwhelmed just having been nominated by Gillian. When she finally told me, I was already one of the chosen 5 finalists. Winning the competition means so much. The car will improve my commuting needs, but also, just having been voted the ‘Most Deserving Student’ is a huge reward in itself – the recognition of how my life has been is the best reward ever!”

This year’s Most Deserving Student Award brought in nominations from families, friends and tutors of students who are studying throughout the country. Congratulations to all those who were nominated.
