Students in Plymouth have come up with a unique way to promote safer sex – creating clothing made entirely of condoms. The students, from Plymouth College of Art, developed their ‘Condom Couture’ alongside Student Support Wellbeing and debuted their designs at a fashion show at the college on Thursday. Around 3,000 condoms were donated by organisations including the Eddystone Trust, Pasante and mycondom.co.uk, in order to promote the safer sex message. The students are all studying for an Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles. Linzi Price, Head of Student Support, said: “Condom Couture is a unique and creative way of sharing a safer sex message to our student community.” A spokesperson from the Eddystone Trust added before the show: “Good sexual health is still everybody's business. "Encouraging students to break taboos around condoms is really welcome and we're really looking forward to seeing what comes out of this innovative event. Love and passion are still in fashion!"
