Rapidly expanding web shop, printed.com, has teamed up with Centrepoint to launch a competition giving young designers the chance to showcase their talents, while supporting the charity’s work helping young homeless people.

The competition challenges designers to create a piece of direct mail which promotes Centrepoint’s involvement with ‘Give as You Live’, a downloadable widget that enables consumers to effortlessly donate to the charity.

Entrants are challenged to create an A5 sized, single-sided design for use as a direct mail shot, to inspire people to download the Give as You Live widget to their browser toolbar. Once downloaded, the widget will ensure a donation is automatically made to Centrepoint every time the consumer makes an online purchase.

The winning direct mail design will be distributed to up to 5,000 UK recipients courtesy of printed.com, generating valuable exposure for the winning designer. Additionally, the first 2,000 widgets downloaded as a result of the competition will donate a bonus £5 to Centrepoint.

The competition will be judged by an esteemed panel of noted creative experts:

  • Andy Barwood, Creative Partner, Karmarama
  • David Harris, Executive Creative Director, Wunderman
  • Justin Moore, Creative Director/partner, BBH
  • Shormeh Omaboe, DM Manager, Centrepoint
Nick Green, CEO of printed.com, says: “Creativity is a passion for our business so I am looking forward to seeing the designs that the competition attracts from the UK’s best young design talent. Centrepoint’s work is also very close to my heart so the fact that we will be supporting the charity’s exemplary work with young homeless people is an incredibly positive thing.”

David Harris, executive creative director at Wunderman, adds: “The competition poses an interesting challenge so I am looking forward to seeing the ideas that the UK’s best young design talent has to offer. This is a unique opportunity for those hoping to break into any creative industry to give their work some invaluable exposure, as well as support a very worthy cause.”
