Liverpool have confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Fabinho will join the club from AS Monaco, effective from July 1st.
Jurgen Klopp's side, who were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid in Saturday's Champions League final, will be in need of a replacement for outgoing midfielder Emre Can, who is set to join Juventus on a free transfer. The Reds will pay an initial fee of £39 million, with performance-related payments due to take the fee up to £43 million. In their official announcement, Fabinho told Liverpool's official website: "This is something that I always wanted - this is a giant of a team. The infrastructures of the club look exceptional. "I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I'm able to win titles with this club." The Brazilian, who currently has four caps for the national team, will have an undisturbed pre-season schedule, due to his omission from the Selecao's World Cup squad.
AnalysisNew manager Jurgen Klopp said about his latest acquisition: "We have signed a fantastic player, but someone who is an equally fantastic person. "His reputation as a character in the dressing room and his attitude in training has come through from everyone we speak to.

Klopp's men have been confirmed to face German giants Borussia Dortmund and Italian crowd-pleasers Napoli, as well as north-west high-rollers Manchester City and Manchester United. With a great portion of the squad unlikely to make the start of pre-season due to this summer's World Cup, it is a huge opportunity for the Brazilian to stake his claim as the first name on the Anfield teamsheet. The one thing that can be confirmed from this move is that it will go down extremely well with the Kop faithful. Peter Moore and everyone behind the scenes involved with Liverpool Football Club have done well to appease the fans and get their first summer signing sewed up so soon after heartbreak in Kyiv. The future sure is looking bright for Liverpool fans, and it is now just a matter of time before a genuine Premier League title challenge. Image Rights - Wikimedia Commons
