Warrington Wolves will host Leeds Rhinos in the UK's first physical disability rugby league competitive fixture.

This comes after Leeds announced they would join the Wolves as only the second UK professional Rugby League club to fund a physical disability side last Wednesday.

Known as PDRL, the sport is a modified version of Rugby League which involves both full contact and touch tackle options, for all players.

There are nine players on each team seven players with a physical disability and two able-bodied players who do not have physical disabilities.

Leeds Rhinos' Disability Programme Coordinator, Chris Godfrey, told the club website: "Getting the team together has been great, not only has the standard of rugby been very good but the calibre of person has been great too."

"The team all have their own stories and obstacles to overcome, but what is very apparent is that all are determined to show themselves, and others, that it doesn't matter who you are, where you're from, what you did, you can enjoy playing rugby."

Both sides will line up at Victoria Park's Asics stadium this Sunday, 4th February with Warrington relying on the services of Australian comedian and presenter of The Last Leg Adam Hills whilst his co-presenter Alex Brooker will be supporting the Rhinos.

Hills said on Warrington Wolves' Twitter account: "I've already challenged Johnny Vegas to get a St. Helens disability team, I've heard that Wakefield are interested. I would love if by this team next year there was five teams in the competition."

The game has been played in Australia for over six years and preliminary discussions are already underway about establishing an England PDRL side potentially competing in a World Cup later this year.
