Celtic's record breaking run ends with a 4-0 thumping

Unbeaten in 69 games, Celtic have been setting the pace in the Scottish Premier League. When they beat St Johnstone 4-0 in November they surpassed their own British record of going 62 games without defeat.

Yesterday that run came crashing to a halt as the boys in green lost 4-0 at Tynecastle. Goals from Harry Cochrane and Kyle Lafferty put Hearts in the driving seat by halftime and a double from Manuel Milinkovic saw the game off. Their final goal coming by way of a 76th-minute penalty.

Hearts had slightly less of the ball and fewer shots than Celtic over the 90 minutes but were more clinical. Sloppy errors from Celtic allowed the Edinburgh team to capitalise.

The Midlothian men currently sit fifth in the table while Celtic still lead by two points. They will hope to increase that gap to five points in their game in hand when they host a struggling Partick Thistle on Wednesday.

Thistle sit bottom of the table with 14 points to Celtic’s 41 and seem unlikely to cause an upset at Celtic Park. Aberdeen fans will be hoping the Jags can pull off an upset though as Celtic have shown some uncharacteristic vulnerability in this latest loss.
