Whether it’s train tickets or splitting a tank of petrol, the cost of travelling to summer festivals can creep up on you without you realising it. Added to the often hefty price of a ticket, it’s easy to get stung by unexpected costs . Because everyone knows how hard-up students are, (and let’s face it - no one wants to be left feeling out of pocket at a festival) this year Isle of Wight ferry company Red Funnel are offering students heading to Bestival the chance to get there completely for free. Valid on festival tickets booked through the Red Funnel site until the end of next week, the offer will take you from Southampton to East Cowes on the Isle of Wight and is valid for those arriving on Thursday 4th or Friday 5th September. The ticket will then allow you to travel back to Southampton on either Sunday 7th or Monday 8th September. The deal is exclusively for students, and you’ll need to show your student ID at the box office to gain entry. Bestival’s top acts this year include Outkast, Foals, Beck, Disclosure, Paloma Faith, Busta Rhymes, Clean Bandit and London Grammar. This year’s desert island-themed party at the Isle of Wight’s Robin Hill kicks off on 4th September, and ends on the 7th. You’ll have to hurry up if you want to take advantage, though – the offer only runs until 1st June. Book your tickets via the Red Funnel site here.
