MP George Galloway has tabled a motion to reinstate the Oxford librarian who was sacked over a ‘Harlem Shake’ video.

Calypso Nash was sacked by St. Hilda’s College last month, after a group of students organised the filming of a Harlem Shake video in her library. Nash was not involved in the organisation or filming of the video, but was present in the library at the time.

Students have called for Nash to be reinstated, with no success. Now, however, Nash has someone a little more powerful on her side – Respect MP George Galloway.

Galloway’s Early Day Motion was tabled in the House of Commons last week, according to independent Oxford student newspaper Cherwell.

Galloway claims that "the College authorities seem to have suffered a severe sense of humour loss”, about an "incident for which the Librarian bears no responsibility."

Galloway's office told The Huffington Post UK: "George is fighting [Nash's] corner because it's the right thing to do. The woman has been victimised through no fault of her own."

The college is yet to comment.
