A former Edinburgh University student who was once dubbed ‘Maddest Fresher’ has been jailed for three years after a depraved sex attack on a teenager.

Felix Beck, 22, collapsed as he was led from the dock in handcuffs on Thursday (17 January) after being sentenced to three years in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

He was convicted at the High Court in Aberdeen of sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault of an 18 year old female student

Beck chocked and bit his victim who he had earlier met through Tinder.

The woman - also an Edinburgh University student - had invited him to her halls of residence bedroom on 19 October 2016. They kissed and agreed to begin sexual contact but things became nonconsensual when Beck started choking her. He then penetrated her vagina with his fingers,  forcing her on her knees while uttering abusive remarks, pushing her on to a bed, forcing her legs apart and biting her thighs and private parts before masturbating and ejaculateding on her.

The sick attacker told his victim he “wouldn’t have become aggressive if she hadn’t given him a shit blow job”.

Handing down the sentence, Judge Lord Uist told him: "The way you treated your victim both during and after your violent attack was callous and disgraceful."

The woman was a fresher at the time of the attack, having only joined Edinburgh University a few weeks beforehand, she was diagnosed with PTSD in 2017 and has since transferred universities.

Remarkably, at the time of the attack, Beck was being quizzed over a rape allegation made by another woman - for which he was acquitted at a trial last month.

Beck was well known among his peers on campus for his party antics and lavish lifestyle and was even entered into The Tab’s Maddest Fresher competition where he was described as ‘the epitome of the Canada Goosers’ - a reference to the expensive designer coat, which is, colloquially, seen as a symbol of wealth among students.

The Tab claimed “you can always find him in the LED room with the Goose Squad and a bottle of Moet in each hand.”

Sentencing Beck on Thursday, Judge Lord Uist said: "You come from a comfortable, indeed privileged background, and are in the fourth year of your studies. You have only yourself to blame for the situation in which you now find yourself which arises out of the lifestyle you were leading and your sense of sexual entitlement and arrogance.”
