Hold onto your dragonglass Thrones fans, because a conference on everyone’s favourite tale of ice and fire is coming to the University of Hertfordshire this September.

Game of Thrones: An International Conference will take place at the university’s De Havilliand Campus between 6th and 7th September of this year – and yes, students are invited.

Scholars from all around the world will come to discuss key themes of the series, including politics, gender, motherhood, death, power and trauma - as well as the massive international popularity of the series, and issues surrounding this popularity.

Keynote speakers include prominent Game of Thrones scholars including Professor Anne Gjelsivik, Associate Professor Rijke Schubert and Professor Martin Baker, who will discuss varying issues related to Game of Thrones.

Discussions include the role of gender, changes from book to screen, and the international impact of the show.

Its impact on heritage and tourism, transmedia, game play and world-building as well as the series’ historical backdrop will also be covered. The George RR Martin Society will also be launched at the conference.

Conference organiser Kim Akass, a Senior Lecturer in Film and TV at the University of Hertfordshire, says: "We’ve organised the conference to coincide with the final season of the globally successful HBO series.

“As the series draws to its close we expect international delegates to investigate the series’ success as well as celebrate its place in TV history.”

Tickets cost £75 a day and £140 for two, but never fear students - there is a discount for you, so Game of Thrones fans needn't miss out for fear of the hefty price tag.

Tickets can be booked through the University of Hertfordshire's website
