Andy Murray is not amused with your casual sexism

World No.1 Andy Murray once again stood up for female sports stars when he corrected a reporter’s casual sexist comment in the interview following his quarterfinal match against Sam Querrey.

Murray lost to Sam Querrey in a relentless five-set quarterfinal match, but despite this devastating exit from his Wimbledon 2017 journey he continued to fight for what’s right.

In the interview a reporter described Sam Querrey as the first american player to make it to a Wimbledon semi-final since 2009.

Murray interrupted the reporter with “male player” and a very unimpressed expression on his face.  The journalist attempted to laugh it off but Murray’s face showed that he was less than amused.

The reporter had completely disregarded the success of Serena and Venus Williams, both of whom have made it to the semi-finals of grand slam competitions numerous times since 2009.

Thank goodness for Andy Murray, tennis new equality it-boy.
