Jeremy Corbyn will take to the Pyramid Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, organiser Michael Eavis has confirmed.

The Labour leader will be addressing the crowds on June 24th before introducing rap duo Run The Jewels, who are known for their politically charged lyrics.

Speaking to The Guardian, Eavis said “We’re Corbyn fans,” while his daughter Emily, who’s also in charge of organising the festival, added: “It’s great to see somebody who’s engaging young people so much.”

Corbyn was scheduled to appear at Glastonbury last year but was forced to cancel as it clashed with the announcement of the EU Referendum result.

It’s anticipated that his appearance will prove incredibly popular with young festival goers, as the Islington North MP has an unprecedented following and support from young people.

“He’s got something new and precious, and people are excited about it. He really is the hero of the hour,” said Eavis, who’s eagerly looking forward to welcoming Corbyn.

In this year's snap General Election a YouGov poll estimates a huge 63% of voters aged 18 to 29 voted for Labour, up from 36% in 2015. This election surge has been put down to Corbyn’s growing popularity among millennials.

The MP for Norwich South, Clive Lewis, is also set to attend Glastonbury on June 24th and will be taking part in a talk on the Leftfield stage – it’s believed Corbyn may be joining him.

In a recent interview with NME Corbyn admitted he’s “not very musical” but loves music, confessing:

"When I’m at home late in the evening I have Classic FM on or I have Radio 3 on,” adding:

“I do love much classical music… I also like folk music, I like listening to some jazz, I like listening to world music as well.”
