The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have officially opened 'The Global Academy' along with Heads Together, a charity which raises awareness for mental health in the UK.

During the day they met some of the 800 students training to be production staff at the Academy. Radio stations LBC, Heart, and Capital broadcast shows from the London school, which opened in September.

They also saw students and Capital presenter Roman Kemp trying out the Heads Together Snapchat Lens, which enables everyone to take a picture of themselves wearing a Heads Together headband in support of opening up the conversation about mental health and raising awareness.

Heart hosted an hour’s phone-in show that explored young people and anxiety, and the team then attended a round table discussion with GLOBAL presenters on the importance of talking about mental health.

The Academy principal said: “There has never been more pressure on young adults to ‘fit the norm’ – whether that’s posting the perfect picture on social media or creating a different persona online.

"The Global Academy was created to enable young adults from all backgrounds to learn the skills they need to prosper in an ever changing world.  At the Global Academy, we encourage our students to talk, and talk about things that might be considered taboo.”

Heads Together was started and is run by The Duke and Duchess and Prince Harry, in partnership with eight leading mental health charities that are raising awareness and providing vital help for people with mental health problems.

The organisation is trying to fight the stigma and try to get people to have conversations about mental health.
