There's going to be a Doctor Who and Sherlock theme park

Fans of quality British drama/rollercoaster crossovers rejoice – according to various news outlets, there’s an actual Doctor Who and Sherlock themed theme park in the pipeline. Whilst we originally thought that this might be a hoax, the plans so in fact seem legitimate. The project, masterminded by BBC Worldwide and Paramount, apparently could be open by Easter 2020 and promises to “combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture.” Oh, and Top Gear is getting involved too – although we’re far less excited about this part of the story. The proposed two billion pound development is likely to be in Kent, according to the Guardian, and the theme park could be put together by the people behind Mission Impossible and Star Trek, which is predictably causing intense levels of excitement. (As a side, we really, really hope that Top Gear is not being trotted out as an essential part of British culture alongside Time Lords and Cumberbatch.) Although there’s no official confirmation of the plans yet, the idea appears to be for a BBC theme park, which could feature any number of the channel’s ratings hits. With this in mind, we’re wondering what other BBC favourites might make their way into what could easily become a very British and weirdly dramatic (read: better) version of Disneyland. Eastenders? Strictly Come Dancing? The Apprentice? The possibilities, we feel, are endless (and endlessly bizarre.) No word yet on what Benedict himself thinks of the plan, but we predict that he’ll be 100% on board.
