It looks like the key to getting into your flatmates’ good books might be through their stomachs – at least, that’s what the revelation that Jamie Oliver is the UK’s most desirable housemate would suggest.

Weroom, a social networking site for flatsharing, has conducted the study to find out what Brits view as the most desirable attributes for a flatmate, and the celeb chef has come out on top.

So if you’re not getting along with your flatmates too well recently – well, you know how to make it right.

There appears to be a preponderance for red heads in the top ten, too – in second place was Prince Harry (we have to agree that he’d probably be amazing to live with) and Ed Sheeran (hmm – maybe not so much.)

In a slightly bizarre twist, Lord Grantham himself, Hugh Bonneville, was the fifth most popular choice. We’re not sure why...

In third place was Jennifer Lawrence, whilst Simon Cowell was number 10. Nope – again, us neither...

Here’s the top ten list in full.

1. Jamie Oliver

2. Prince Harry

3. Jennifer Lawrence

4. Kelly Brook

5. Hugh Bonneville

6. Cheryl Cole

7. Ed Sheeran

8. Pixie Lott

9. Caroline Flack

10. Simon Cowell

In terms of attributes that Brits feel would make an ideal flatmate, 79% over the 2,034 adults questioned identified trustworthiness as the most important quality, followed by cleanliness (72%).

Taste in films and TV (27%), adeptness in DIY (23%) and willingness to cook for the whole household (15%) were also named as important qualities for a prospective housemate, whilst 10% said that their ideal flatmate would be good looking and play video games.

For those that don’t flatshare, 71% said that they were wary in case their flatmates didn’t pay the bills on time, whilst 69% said that they were worried about their flatmates being messy and 57% admitted that they didn’t want to live with strangers.
