vInspired, the UK’s leading youth charity, has today announced the opening of recruitment for the 2013/14 Team v programme.

Established in 2011, Team vis a leadership and skills building programme, which comprises a team of motivated young leaders, each armed with the mission to recruit five to ten other volunteers, and then take on the planning, organising and delivery three innovative and highly visible social action projects in their community across one year.

The 2012/13 programme saw the volunteers tackle issues around youth homelessness, transforming community spaces and promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Each campaign is managed by the Team v leaders; from recruitment, to budget and implementation, and is mentored by alumni from previous years. There is also a vInspired staff team dedicated to supporting and training the volunteers.

Bolton-based Team v alumnus, Razaz Salih, commented: “Before I started the programme, I had a vision of what I wanted to do with my future but I didn’t have the tools to get there. Team v not only gave me those tools, but helped me to build amazing contacts through their networks – the programme opens up many doors.”

Terry Ryall, CEO of vInspired, added: “Team v is a brilliant way to set yourself out from the crowd. You’re making change on some of the most important issues in your community, but you’re also getting the chance to get real project management experience, training from top campaigners and business leaders, and the chance to gain a £1,000 grant for your personal development.

“If you want to get somewhere, and want to make a difference to your community along the way, you should apply.”

The programme culminates in a graduation ceremony to celebrate the work carried out by the volunteers, which takes place in June in London. Team v offers students and young people a unique opportunity to manage projects, learn new skills and boost their CVs.
