England rugby player Danny Cipriani is in hospital after being hit by a bus at Leeds University last night.

The Sale Shark was on a night out with his teammates, taking part in the infamous ‘Otley Run’ – an established pub crawl popular with students in Leeds that ends at The Dry Dock on Woodhouse Lane.

Around four police cars arrived swiftly at the scene of the accident on Woodhouse Lane. Cipriani was hit by the double-decker as he attempted to run across the road, apparently leaving a lot of damage to the bus.

An onlooker, speaking to Leeds Student, said: “I saw the bus just after it happened and knew it must have hit something big – the front was really smashed up.”

Cipriani was initially treated for concussion at the scene before being taken to hospital for X-rays and further treatment. His manager, James Williamson, told The Sun: “He’s obviously in pain. He was running across the road and just misjudged the speed of the bus.”

The player, who was the first England international to play for an Australian Super League team, remained in hospital overnight. He has recently got back together with model and Celebrity Juice star Kelly Brook. Rumours around a possible engagement were sparked by Brook sporting a large ring on her wedding finger last Friday.
