The Coffee Music project annually showcases the best of burgeoning music talent in London, New York and LA in a series of songwriting and performance competitions. All profits from the showcases are used to support coffee growing communities across the world via Project Waterfall, an initiative that brings clean drinking water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities. It's not like Britain's Got Talent - the project seeks self-made artists who write their own music and deliver it well on stage. There are no genres or boxes to fit into, but the artists' work must be original, with a strong focus on songwriting ability. There are five key stages to the competition: from an initial online application form to live show performances and a songwriting challenge, the artists are then judged by a panel of music experts, from A&R to publishers to top sync agents and the general public. We're coming to the pivotal point in this year's competition, with nine incredible artists making it through to the final challenge. On 1st May in Central London, the finalists will perform their own original song written around the theme of the UK's capital and be judged by the expert panel. This year's finalists are a smorgasbord of diverse and genre-bending talent from across the country, spanning soulful jazz and blues, hip-hop and r'n'b to sweet acoustic pop.
The London 2019 Final this year is coming up on Wednesday 1st May and is set to be a fantastic night of live music for an incredible cause.
The Coffee Music Project Final 2019 takes place at 229 The Venue, Great Portland Street, on 1st May. Doors open at 7pm. Over 18s only.
