Petrol Girls live and breathe feminist discourse.
Petrol Girls via Major TransmissionIt's less about a lyrical theme for the London fourpiece and more of an overall approach to the way they think and make music. Their new album Cut & Stitch, just recently announced, will explore deeper into the different facets of feminism, like vulnerability and radicalism, and how it affects men as well. Alongside their album announcement comes the new single 'The Sound', which opens with a one and a half minute monologue on sound and how it's used in society as a tool for both oppression and revolution. Gritty, DIY guitars drive an exposé of noise, battling shredding solo with shredding solo, ultimately bursting into passionate roars from lead vocalist Ren Aldridge. 'The Sound' will sit alongside 13 other brand new tracks on Cut & Stitch, released everywhere on May 24th via Hassle Records. The band will be performing intimate, live gigs at Rough Trade stores in London, Bristol and Nottingham during the week of the record release. Listen to 'The Sound' now and let off some steam with the Petrol Girls.
