Inspired by an experimental instrumental and a forgotten umbrella, the latest single 'Blue Umbrella' is taken from Malory's debut album Cornucopia out on the 1st March. A follow up to the upbeat 'Last to Die' released in November 2018, 'Blue Umbrella' glimmers with the elegance of a black-tie soiree and chills with a glacial gust. An off-kilter pop blueprint gives the single a vintage, wintry feel that juxtaposes reverb-heavy piano chords, stacked vocal stabs and incandescent synthesisers. Speaking ahead of the release, Malory's lyricism digs deeps into the trudging and oppressive 9-5 while still remaining sonically upbeat, "It kind of started off as a joke but the more I thought about it the more I started to connect the dots - The image of this corporate figure, unhappy in his life, going nowhere and waking to work in the pouring rain with his umbrella." Malory continues her winning streak with perfect execution of a richly textured piece of pop music, with a welcomed twist on traditional Top 40 themes. 'Blue Umbrella' is out now on all digital platforms. Malory's debut album Cornucopia will be released on 1st March. You might also like...
