Hear This: Billie Eilish - When I Was Older

While we anticipate her debut album, Billie Eilish releases a haunting new song inspired by the acclaimed Netflix film ROMA.

Opening with what can only be described as an electric lullaby, Eilish drives the song with sombre lyrics, “Nobody lonely like I'm lonely” and “my skin is paler than it ever should be” which draw upon her signature melancholia. It successfully reflects the strife portrayed in the film, and though it is cast in the mould of a familiar formula, 'When I Was Older' is particularly striking in its production and tone.

Eilish co-wrote the track with her elder brother, Finneas Baird O’Connell, who also wrote her popular ‘Ocean Eyes’.  

Billie Eilish's debut album is expected to drop early this year, though no official release date has been announced.
