The album’s lead single 'Youth (Is Wasted On The Old)' shows Fever Dream’s intense focus; both on foggy, yet driving instrumentals as well as a poignant sonic message. The vocals stand as a letter of angst about an older generation who was unable to realize their own youthful potential, now looking back with a soured gaze. The track is brought to life with momentary tempo changes and sends the listener off with an emotive, wailing guitar solo.
'Heads Will Roll', which can be found just a few tracks further into Squid, highlights a bit more of Fever Dream’s diversity; ebbing and flowing between bass-centric grooves and more energetic, politically infused verses. Fleet invokes elements of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke at particular moments, introducing a touch of softness to his lyrics before bursting into a chorus that really shows his range as a young vocalist.Head over to Club AC30's online store to grab a limited pressed vinyl of Squid and if you'd like to see Fever Dream in action, where they really shine, you can grab tickets to their December 6th show at The Victoria in London HERE.
